Welcome to the Sarett Estate.
Jan Roelants (1906 – 1960)
The following is reprinted from Blanche Bonestell Gallery’s catalog of 1941 on the occasion of Roelants’ solo show at the gallery, shortly after his arrival in the United States:
Jan Roelants was born in Schiedam, Holland, in 1906. As so many other painters have done, he followed an urge which drew him to the south. For the last six years he has lived and painted in Capri and the beautiful country surrounding Naples. There he developed his technical and spiritual qualities.
This is Jan Roelants’ first one-man show in America, although he had once before made a visit to the United States with his wife who is an American.
Roelants has exhibited in Paris and Rome; in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
