Welcome to the Edith Feiner Sarett Estate.

Edith Feiner Sarett (1923 – 2008)

Edith Feiner Sarett escaped the Holocaust along with her two brothers, and arrived in the United States on one of the last Kindertransport. She initially studied theater in NYC and settled in Greenwich Village where she met Jan Roelants while working at the same restaurant, and through him, became involved with the art scene.

In 1952, she performed in Pablo Picasso’s play Desire Caught by the Tail at the Cherry Lane Theater in the Village with all the New York School painters in attendance. She studied painting with Roelants and Esteban Vicente and realized she felt more called to painting than theater.

After moving to New Orleans in 1972, Sarett went on to have a successful career with solo exhibitions in New Orleans at the Galerie Royale, Hilderbrand Gallery and Marceline Bonorden Gallery of Fine Art, as well as participating in multiple group exhibitions.
